IRISH McCALLA ON TV
Part 1: The Sheena Audition - Intro

INTRODUCTION

This section deals with the story of how Irish McCalla came to play Sheena in the classic televison series Sheena Queen of the Jungle.  It covers the seminal stages of the project, including early unrealised plans for a Sheena movie; the recommendation of Sheena for the role by famous photographer Tom Kelly, who photographed Marilyn Monroe nude for the Golden Dreams calendar; the audition in the backyard of Edward Nassour's house in Hollywood; the story of why Anita Eckberg declined the role; how Irish was brought in to replace Anita; and finally, how the series was eventually sold to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC).  Click on the links below to access the pages for this topic.
